Get protection and peace of mind while towing your vehicle or rented trailer. Safetow is the best protection package of its kind on the market today. It provides multiple levels of protection and peace of mind you need while towing your car or rented trailer.
You are responsible for all damage to U-Haul rental equipment up to the full replacement value. But when you select Safetow protection, you are relieved of this responsibility.
Most personal auto-insurance policies do not cover damage to rental equipment, even if they cover damage to rental cars. And even if yours does cover rental equipment, you have deductibles and increased premiums to consider.
Damage waiver protection, which frees you of responsibility for accidental collision damage to the rental auto transport, tow dolly, or rental trailer. Without this coverage, you may be responsible for any and all damage, up to the full value of the equipment.
Towed property protection, which provides coverage for your towed motor vehicle and cargo while being towed with an auto transport, tow dolly, tow bar, or rental trailer. This is primary coverage, which means you can avoid having your own auto-insurance carrier pay the claim, which could raise your rates.
Exclusions: Safetow does not cover theft or burglary of your motor vehicle, any of its accessories or personal contents in the towed trailer. Mechanical damage, including damage to the transmission or drivetrain, is not covered unless it is the result of a collision. For a list of other exclusions, see the rental contract addendum and certificate provided with your rental contract.
Safemove, Safestor and Safetow are subject to exclusions set forth in the U-Haul storage rental contract. Safemove, Safestor and Safetow are not liability insurance and each is optional. Some portions of these protection packages are underwritten in the USA by Republic Western Insurance Company, Phoenix, AZ. In Canada, some portions are underwritten by Commonwealth Insurance Company, Vancouver, BC. In Hawaii, some portions are underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company, Pittsburgh, PA.
